Shane Ellsworth Lathrop, 39, of Port Allegany, died unexpectedly Monday (November 22, 2010) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

He was born Oct 12, 1971 in Olean, NY, a son of Andrew (Anne) and Ellie Berg Lathrop. On July 3, 2004, in Niagara Falls, NY, he married Kelly Flint, who survives.

Mr. Lathrop was a 1989 graduate of Smethport Area Jr./Sr. High School and had worked as a quality manager at PSM Brownco of Emporium, PA.  He was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Port Allegany, the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, and was social member of the VFW #212 of Bradford, PA.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by four sons: Andrew, Blaine, and Sean Lathrop, all of Emporium, PA, and Jack Lathrop of Port Allegany one brother: Sean (Laurie) Lathrop of Port Allegany.
Two  step brothers: Frank (Sandy) Mason of Eldred and Greg (Stephanie) Mason of Statesville, NC

Five  nieces: Rebecca, Allison, and Hannah Lathrop, Lila and Gillian Ruff and one nephew Grayson Ruff
One sister in law: Tonya (Eric) Ruff of Buffalo, NY
Two brother in laws: Anthony and Craig Flint of Charlotte, NC
Father and Mother in law: Martin A. “Tony” and Susan Flint of Port Allegany.

Shane was preceded in death by one step brother, Todd Mason.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 - 4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, at 10 A.M., at St. Mary’s Sartwell with the Rev. Charles R. Schmitt as celebrant. Committal will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sartwell.

Robert "Rob" B. Colwell, Jr., 60, of 113 W. 4th Street, Emporium, PA died at his residence, Emporium on Saturday morning following a lengthy illness. (November 20, 2010)
He was born May 27, 1950 in Port Allegany a son of Angeline Fapore Colwell, Port Allegany and the late Robert B. Colwell, Sr.

On August 8, 1981 in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Port Allegany he married Tracy Boschert Colwell, who Survives.

Mr. Colwell graduated from Port Allegany High School in the class of 1968 and then from Alfred State University. He was employed for over 30 years at Northern Tier Community Action and Director of Head Start for the past 20 years. He was one of the co-founders of the County Food Pantry in Emporium. He was also a Grant writer for many projects in the County. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church

Surviving in addition to his mother Angeline Fapore Colwell and his wife Tracy Boschert Colwell
are sons  Matthew and Timothy Colwell of  Emporium.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert B. Colwell, Sr. who died Aug. 22, 2007.

Marie C. LaBrozzi, 83, of House of Loreto, 2812 Harvard Ave., NW, Canton, Ohio formerly of Meadow Rd., Emporium, PA died at her residence in Canton on Sunday (November 14, 2010) night where she was living the past month.


She was born June 12, 1927 in Lumber City, PA a daughter of the late Lawrence V. and Catherine M. Hornung Caldwell.
On May 15, 1944 in St. Mark Catholic Church, Emporium, she married the late Francis "Tim" LaBrozzi.
Many years ago Mrs. LaBrozzi worked at McCrorys and Sylvania and retired from Motor Coil in 1989 where she worked for many year a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Rosary Society and the VFW Auxilary. She enjoyed Baking bread, sharing it with others, crocheting and reading.

Kathryn M. "Katie" Zoschg, 94, of 3033 Cameron Rd., Emporium died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor in Emporium on Friday evening. (November 12, 2010)
She was born November 25, 1915 in Rathbun, PA a daughter of the late George F. and Rose Balaban Mahovlich.
On July 14, 1941 in Winchester, VA she married the late Matthew A. Zoschg, Sr.
Mrs. Zoschg was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time around her home most especially gardening. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Paul F. "Freddie" Lewis, Jr., 76, of 71 Pine Glen Rd., Emporium, PA died at his residence on Monday (November 8, 2010) morning. He was born May 30, 1934 in Emporium a son of the late Paul F. and Viola Bennett Lewis, Sr.

On December 12, 1953 in Emporium he married Dorothy Donahue Lewis, who Survives.
Mr. Lewis retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of the Emporium County Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife Dorothy Donahue Lewis are daughters Deborah Divincenzo of Camp Hill, PA.,  Karen, Mrs. Michael Ramsey of Emporium,  Judy VanZile of Lakeland, FL,  Gina, Mrs. William Clark of Lititz, PA,  and a son Richie Lewis and his finance Karen of Emporium, eight Grandchildren;  Christina Divincenzo, Matthew and Adam Ramsey, Nathen & Vanesa VanZile, Mariel, Nataly & Anthony Clark.  One brother, Russell "Rusty" Lewis and his wife Kathy of Emporium and one sister Carole, Mrs. Fred Smith of Emporium.  He was preceded in death by parents Paul F. and Viola Bennett Lewis Sr., three sisters and one half sister.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.

 Edward L. Horning, Sr., 82, of Midland Rd., Emporium, died Thursday, November 4, 2010, in Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys.
 
Born May 16, 1928 in Emporium, he was the son of the late Byron H. Horning, Sr. and Lola Schwab Horning.
 
On April 30, 1949 in Emporium, he married Harriet Kennedy who died May 3, 2000.  On December 27, 2005 in Emporium, he married Jane Mullens who survives.
 
A lifelong resident of Emporium, Mr. Horning was a 1946 graduate of Emporium High School.  From 1959 until 1973 he operated the Esso station on West Fourth Street in Emporium.  He then opened Ed Horning’s Fuel Oil in Emporium and in the following years was also awarded many trash removal contracts in the surrounding townships.  In 1994 he opened Store All Rentals in Emporium and for many years was employed as a school bus driver for the Cameron County School District.  Mr. Horning also served as Cameron County commissioner for four years.
 
Mr. Horning was a member of the First Baptist Church in Emporium where he was a former deacon.  He was a member of Emporium Lodge 382 F&AM, the local ATV Association, Bucktail Rod & Gun Club, and was a long time member and past president of the Tom Mix Rangers.  He was also a former 4-H Leader and for years was the Chamber Santa making annual visits to the Guy & Mary Felt Manor.  His passions were his family, four-wheeling and hunting.
 
Surviving in addition to his wife Jane and his loving dog, Duchess, are: five sons, Rick Horning and Chris (Annetta) Horning both of Emporium, Edward (Lyn) Horning of Bellefonte, John Horning of Mansfield and Larry (Beth) Horning of Ridgway; one daughter, Deborah (Roger) Long of Galeton; twelve grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Byron Horning of Emporium; and also nieces and nephews.
 
Friends will be received in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Sunday, November 7 from 3-5 p.m. at which time a Masonic Memorial Service will be held.  Funeral & Committal Services will follow with the Rev. Russell Horning of Shinglehouse, officiating.
 
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cameron County High School Alumni Association Harriet and Edward Horning Scholarship Fund c/o Northwest Savings Bank, 2 East Fourth Street, Emporium.
