David A. Keller, 55, of 216 E. Allegany Ave., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA on Sunday (January 29, 2017) morning.
He was born January 24, 1962 in St. Marys, PA a son of Donald and Carol Rigby Keller, Emporium
David graduated from Cameron County High School. He worked for over twenty years at GKN. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Moose in Emporium. David enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors,

In addition to his parents he is survived by a daughter, Cassandra (Jacob Moate) Keller, Emporium; son, David R. Keller, Emporium; two grandchildren: Allison Keller and Axel Moate, one brother, Donald (Karen) Keller, Glen Arm, MD;
sister, Kay Sullivan, York, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church, 306 S. Spruce St., Emporium, PA on Thursday morning from 10:30-11:30 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA
Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

Calvin Hugar, 91, of 7838 University Garden Dr., Winter Park, Florida also a resident of Driftwood, PA died in Winter Park, Florida Friday (January 27, 2017) evening.
He was born December 24, 1925 in Karthaus, PA a son of the late James and Marie Askey Hugar.

On June 28, 1952 in St. James Catholic Church, Driftwood, PA he married the late Eunice Rougeux Hugar.
Mr. Hugar graduated from Clearfield High School. and Lock Haven State Teachers College. He served in the US Army Air Force with the 98th Bomb Squadron in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. He was a retired school teacher retiring from the Cameron County School District where he taught for many years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Driftwood.

Survived by one son, COL (RET) James L. (Carol) Hugar, Lewisberry, PA; two daughters, Marie E. (Jerome Woods) Hugar, Dunnellon, FL and Jacqueline H. Hugar, Winter Park, FL; four grandchildren: Monica Mancini, Robert, Ned and Alex Hugar, two great grandchildren: Patrick Baker and Rebekah Hugar; one brother, Merle Hugar, Clearfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Askey Hugar, wife, Eunice Rougeux Hugar; brother, Kenneth Hugar; sister, Donna Hugar and a step sister, Elsie Askey.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Friday before Mass from 10:00 - 10:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated, following the visitation, at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

Celebration of Life Service will be held in mid-February in Orlando and in July in Driftwood.  Please Contact a family for details.
Burial with military rites will be at 3:00 PM in the Keewaydin Cemetery, Frenchville, PA

Mary R. Serianni, 79, of 71 Mountain View Rd., Emporium, PA died at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA on Monday (January 23, 2017) night.

She was born December 10, 1937 in Kane, PA a daughter of the late George and Mary Frisna Raymondo.
Mary graduated from Kane High School in the class of 1955. She moved to Emporium to work for DCNR where she worked for over 36 years retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Mary is survived by one son, Jon Serianni, Emporium; three brothers, Anthony Raymondo and his wife Patricia, Melbourne, FL; Peter Raymondo and his wife Ursla, Whitehall, MI; Frank Raymondo, Alamagordo, NM and several, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Frisna Raymondo, one sister, Rachel McKenna,

There will be No Visitation. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Callistus Catholic Church, 342 Chase Street, Kane, PA . at a date to be determined in early May.
Burial will be in the St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane, PA

Ora Ruth Olivett, 97, a resident of Guy & Mary Felt Manor in Emporium, formerly of West Fourth Street, and the Grove House, died Monday, January 23, 2017, in Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA.

 

Born July 28, 1919 in Emporium, she was the daughter of the late Orie and Hannah Fauver Conway.  On October 9, 1940, in Emporium, she married C. Robert Olivett who died February 1, 2009.

A lifelong resident of Emporium, Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Emporium High School. She was basically a homemaker but through the years had been employed by several Emporium businesses including McCrory’s 5&10 when she was a high school senior starting out at 25 cents an hour, Sylvania Electric tube assembly, Sam Olivett & Sons grocery before it closed in 1979, Cameron County elementary school cafeteria, and the Market Basket Bakery/Deli.

Mrs. Olivett was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporium, took great pride in her family, and was always willing to help individuals & organizations when she could. Years ago she was involved with the PTA, was an active member of the Drum-Alongs auxiliary of the Bucktail Regiment Jr. Drum & Bugle Corps, and was a member of the ladies organization of the Cameron County Centennial.

 

Survivors include: two sons, Robert L. Olivett of Olean and William S. (Ellen) Olivett of Emporium; one daughter, Ruth A. (Randall) Metcalf of Emporium; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Patricia Olivett, a great grandson Aidan S. Umble, and 5 siblings, Ellen Brown, Blanche Gyurina, Joyce Erway, Mary Alexander and Jack Conway making her the last surviving member of the Emporium Conway family.

 

Visitations with memorial tribute will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 26 in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium where Funeral & Committal Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Short, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, Guy & Mary Felt Manor, or the Cameron County SPCA, all in Emporium.

Nancy L. Gavlock, 74, of 112 W 7th St., Emporium, PA died at Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys on Thursday (January 19, 2017) afternoon.
She was born April 25, 1942 in Renovo, PA a daughter of the late Maynard and Mary Ellen Miller Stradley.
On June 29, 1963 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Renovo she married Robert Gavlock, who survives.
Mrs. Gavlock graduated from Renovo High School in the class of 1960. She retired from Olivett's Sure Fine where she was a baker for many years. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by husband Robert Gavlock, two daughters, Patty (Kevin) Wendel, St. Marys and Mary (Matt) Streich, Emporium; one son, Chris (Wendy) Gavlock, Bellefonte, PA; four grandchildren: Erin, Joelle, Alex & Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Mary Ellen Miller Stradley and one son, Robert Gavlock, Jr. in 1979.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium on Sunday from 2-4 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

Richard W. “Dick” Hickoff, 83, of 804 Rich Valley Road, Emporium, PA
died at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA Sunday, January 15, 2017 evening

He was born December 31, 1933 in  Emporium  a son of the late Homer and Marion Munsell Hickoff.
On September 29, 1956 in St. Leo Catholic Church, Ridgway, PA he married Janet Allegretto, who survives.
Mr. Hickoff resided in Emporium all his life. A graduate of Cameron County High School, he worked as a banker until retirement. A St. Mark’s Catholic Church parishioner, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Christabell Club and the Moose Lodge. He was active in several local sportsmen’s clubs as well, and coached the Emporium Foundation Little League team. He'll be remembered as an avid hunter, fly fisherman, fly-tying enthusiast and fish taxidermist.

Surviving in addition to Janet Allegretta Hickoff are three sons, Steven R. Hickoff, Kittery, Maine; David C. Hickoff, Fenton, Michigan; Ronald Hickoff, Erie, PA; six grandsons and one great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Marion Munsell Hickoff.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 120 E. Fourth St., Emporium on Wednesday from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Wednesday (January 18, 2017) at 1:00 PM  with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.
 Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA

Helen Margaret Gratton, 94, of Erie, PA, formerly of Emporium, passed away on December 31, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.

 

She was born October 28, 1922 in Big Run, the daughter of Albert and Marie Cole Mitchell.  On May 17, 1944 in Emporium she married her husband of 68 years, James Gratton, who passed away December 18, 2012.

Margaret worked in the grocery industry in many capacities and as a baker for 10 years. She had also been employed by Sylvania-Phillips in Emporium for many years.

 

She was the beloved mother of one daughter, Bess Heiberger (Joe) of Atlanta GA; one son, James Gratton Jr. (Jan) of North East PA; was Grandmother to Brian Heiberger (Melanie) of Columbus OH and Jason Gratton (Sheila) of Erie PA; and 3 Great Grandchildren.

 

She loved puzzles and neighboring with her many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family and are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home in Emporium.

Loretta Forsythe, 89, of 1730 Bucktail Rd., St. Marys, PA died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA Friday (December 30, 2016) morning following a lengthy illness
She was born January 6, 1927 in Caledonia, PA a daughter of the late Albert R. and Rose Lutterotti Hixon.

On December 18, 1941 in Penfield she married the late Fred Forsythe, Sr.
Loretta worked, for over 33 years, at Sylvania in Emporium. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Coudersport for over 40 years. She loved spending time with her family, friends and enjoyed fishing, hunting and doing things for others.

She is survived by two daughters, Rose (Lonnie) Whitt, Opp, Alabama and Midge (Tim) Houghtaling, Coudersport; son, Fred (Darlene) Forsythe, Jr., Coudersport;  longtime friend & caregiver, Judy Pearsall, St. Marys; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Kephart, Penfield.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Albert R. and Rose Lutterotti Hixon, husband, Fred Forsythe, Sr. who died in 1973, daughter, Gloria Forsythe, granddaughter, Gloria Whitt; three brothers, George Hixon, Sr., Thomas Hixon and one brother in infancy; two sisters, Marie Viola and Carrie Wendell.

Funeral Service will be held at the Gospel Tabernacle, 420 Route 6, West, Coudersport, PA on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Minor, Pastor, officiating.
Visitation will be at the Gospel Tabernacle, on Friday, two hours prior to the Service.

Burial will be in the St. Marys Protestant Cemetery, St. Marys, PA
