 Joyce M. Lundberg, longtime resident of Emporium, died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the

age of 93. 

Arrangements for a Memorial Service with video tribute to be held on Saturday, July 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Emporium are incomplete and details with a full obituary will be announced by the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.

Grace E. Williams, 88, of Sizerville Rd., Emporium, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, in UPMC Altoona.

Born February 23, 1930 in Ridgway, she was the daughter of John and Alma Yonkie Frederick.  On July 15, 1950 in Ridgway, she married Millard Williams, Jr. who passed away January 5, 2011.

Through the years, before retiring in 1984, Grace was employed by several Emporium businesses including Sylvania, Cameron Manufacturing, NTCAC Green Thumb Program and the Grove House.

She attended the Gardeau Community Church, served on the Portage Township election board, was a member of the Emporium VFW Auxiliary, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed crocheting and the company of her family.

 

She is survived by: four daughters, Diane M. Williams and Brenda K. Williams both of Emporium, Carol A. (Gene) Lentz of Keating Summit, and Sylvia J. Barber of Truman; two sisters, Katherine Kline of Kersey and Marjorie (Jack) Rhines in Florida; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, David M. Williams in 2012, two brothers and six sisters.

 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Gardeau Community Church with the Rev. Emilia Burdick, the Methodist minister currently serving the First Presbyterian Church in Emporium, officiating.

 

Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Cameron County fairgrounds in Emporium.

 

Burial will be in Portage Cemetery, Portage Township.

 

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

William G. "Doc Holliday" Munsell, 72, of Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor on Friday evening (June 22, 2018)

 

He was born June 14, 1946 in St. Marys, PA a son of the late William H. L. and Marguerite Ginther Munsell. Bill graduated from Emporium High School and then from Williamsport area Community College in 1968 as a draftsman. He was a retired draftsman and salesman having worked many years in the powdered metal industry. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Emporium Moose Lodge, Port Allegany Legion, North American Fishing Association, and the Bucktail Rod and Gun Club. He was often referred to as “Doc Holliday“ by his friends. He was an avid fisherman who loved fishing on Lake Ontario, deep-sea fishing and fly fishing on most any stream he could find. He enjoyed NASCAR, country music and attending jamborees. His family and friends were most important to him.

 

He is survived by son, Randall S. (Mia) Munsell, Finleyville, PA; daughter, Lisa A. (Steven) Housler, Emporium; daughter, Jill M. (Anthony) Catalano, Howard, PA; son, Aaron P. Munsell, Emporium; Nine Grandchildren: Darienn & Cali Housler, Mara Munsell, Sean, Jenna &  Nicholas Catalano, Nathan Munsell, Tylar Botera &  Tory Younkin; one brother, Don (Diane) Munsell, Austin.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tammy Munsell and a sister Greta Erickson.

 

 A Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Thursday (June 28, 2018) at 5:00 PM with Pastor Emelia Burdick, Pastor, First Presbyterian Church, officiating. 

Visitation will be at the Funeral Home one hour prior to the Service.

 

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA

John T Howard, III, 85, of 8327 Rt. 155, Port Allegany, PA died at his residence on Monday morning (June 18, 2018) following a brief illness.

 

He was born October 30, 1932 in Washington, D.C. a son of the late John T. and Ellen Foster Howard. On June 30, 1989 in Bryn Mawr, PA he married Janet Litka Howard, who survives. John retired from Philadelphia Electric Company, as a foreman, after over 40 years of employment. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting. John always enjoyed raising animals and as a younger man raised Arabian horses. After moving to McKean County in 1991 he and his wife enjoyed life on the farm. They raised sheep and alpacas on Thorn Apple Farm and truly loved the life they made.

 

Survived by In addition to his wife Janet he is survived by two sons, John (LuAnn) Howard, Barto, PA; and Mark Howard, Lancaster, PA and a daughter Kathy Howard, Pottstown, PA; brother, Alan (Rhonda) Howard, Philadelphia, PA and a sister, Phyllis (Francis) Burke, Drexel Hill, PA.

 

 He was preceded in death by his parents. 

 

There will be No Visitation.

 

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Thursday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert as Celebrant.

Gerald W. "Jerry" Moate, 67, of 179 Lyons Run Road, Emporium, PA died peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday morning (June 3, 2018).

He was born March 6, 1951 in St. Marys, PA a son of the late Albert and Betty Wishman Moate.
Jerry graduated from Cameron County High School. He retired, after over 44 years, from Motor Coil in Emporium. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed being called the "Sheriff of Moateland". He always used the expression "LOVE YOU LONG TIME"

Jerry is survived by a son, Corey Moate, Emporium; two daughter, Alyssa (John) Larry, Morgantown, WV and Loreleigh Moate, Pittsburgh; two grandchildren: Dominick and Carina, three sister, Virginia "Peach" (George) Singer, Newton, NC; Barbara (Ralph) McKimm, Sr., Emporium; Tina (Rick) Mix, Weedville; several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Cindy and Alayna Genevro.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Moate, and  three sisters, Susan Moate Swasnick, Carolyn Frutiger & Patty Moate.
At his request there will be No visitation or service.

Laura E. Arndt, 81, of West Fifth Street, Emporium, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018, in Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys.

Born December 25, 1936 in Tyler, PA, she was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Smith Beldin.  On June 28, 1958 in Trenton, NJ she married Tyrus E. Arndt who passed away February 6, 2011.

Before relocating to Emporium she was employed for 9 years by GRT Electronics in California and locally she was employed by Cameron Manufacturing until retirement.

Mrs. Arndt enjoyed crafting, playing bingo, and the company of her family.

 

She is survived by: one daughter, Nancy (Brad) Strahl of Emporium; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd (Mary) Beldin in New Jersey, Dennis Beldin and Richard Beldin both of New Bethlehem; two sisters, Suzie (Robert) Gibbs of Emporium and Phyllis (Donald) Gower of Renovo; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, three daughters, Mary Lou Bright, Tyelene Arndt Gillen, and an infant daughter, and one son, Jay Bright.

 

Friends will be received in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 11 a.m. until noon, at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held with the Rev. Sherri Pifer of St. Marys, an affiliate of the Free Methodist denomination, officiating.

 

Burial will be in Gardner Hill Cemetery, Force.

Carole J. Pelton, 81, of East Fifth Street, Emporium, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

Born August 23, 1936 in Emporium she was the daughter of Newell and Mildred Eckstrom Rinehuls.

 

Carole was a 1954 graduate of Emporium High School and went on to study music at Lycoming College. She was very successful entertainer who traveled the world during her singing career and eventually retired to her hometown of Emporium. At home she was an avid gardener.

 

She is survived by: two sons, Wallace N. Pelton and Scott E. Pelton both of Emporium; one brother, Peter (Gloria) Rinehuls of State College; one sister, Linda (John) Reid of Emporium; two grandsons; two great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

 

There will be no visitation. Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cameron County SPCA, 678 South Mountain RoadEmporiumPA 15834.

 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.

Paul E. Galford, 73, of 144 Valley View Road, Emporium, PA died at UPMC-Altoona Hospital, Altoona, PA on Sunday (June 3, 2018) morning following a brief illness.
 
He was born October 15, 1944 in Marlinton, West Virginia a son of the late Paul M. and Virginia M. Gum Galford.
On June 7, 1969 he married Nancy Vanatta who survives.
 
Paul was a retired logger. He and his brother owned and operated the Galford & Galford Logging Company. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family. He loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
 
In addition to his wife Nancy he is survived by two daughters, Felicity Geelen, Emporium and Daphne (Randy) Garzel, Port Allegany; four grandchildren: Skylar Galford, Tre', Leah & Bree Garzel, one brother, Creig (Kathy) Galford, Ware, MA.
 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joy Wenk and Kathy Galford.
Funeral Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Rev. James R. Horton, Jr., Pastor, First Baptist Church, officiating.
 
Visitation will be at the Funeral Home one hour prior to the Service.
 
Burial will be in the Portage Township Cemetery, Gardeau, PA
